Her body was discovered in a shallow grave in a barn in Alabama, at a property associated with the suspect. The sheriff did not detail the association during the April 3, 2022 presser.
When asked if the suspect is cooperating, now that her body has been found, the sheriff responded, “He’s been acting like a dirtbag…we don’t see that changing.”
Cassie’s body was found on the evening of April 2nd. Her remains were found off U.S Highway 11 in Springville Alabama. She was buried in a stall within a barn. According to WFLA’s JB Biunno live stream, the barn was on a piece of property where Spanevelo was staying.
The investigation now spans three states and includes the FBI.
In speaking about the strength of the evidence, the sheriff stated Spanevelo is “…either going to get life in prison or the needle. Hopefully the needle.”
An autopsy is expected to be performed on Monday, April 4, 2022 which will determine the cause of death. According to Alabama coroner Dennis Russel, the body that was found has a tattoo on the right foot that matches the description of Carli.
The autopsy is anticipated to be completed in Huntsville AL.
